Who uses a video wall?

Originally these display wall solutions were used in financial institutes so traders could see how the markets were performing; now we see these video walls used for outdoor digital signage advertising and even in schools and colleges to enforce the ethos of the education facility. This type of digital signage grabs attention immediately; now let us look at different types of customers who use video walls to promote their products.

Firstly, let us look at exhibitors at an exhibition, they want each and every person who passes their stand to remember it and this is when a video wall can be used. These can be either a fixed video wall or a flexible video wall, the difference here is that the flexible video wall is easier to transport, quicker to set-up and pack away.

Secondly, you will find major candy manufacturers who have invested in a video wall, these are used to interact with the younger consumers and interact with them building brand awareness at an early age. This type of solution usually involves the fixed video wall system.

Lastly, a flexible video wall is used at venues such as music concerts, football games etc as they are quickly installed and taken down and fold flat for easy storage whilst being transported to the next venue.

How the displays are mounted in a video wall.

Normally the LCD screens that go to make up the video wall are mounted in a landscape position, however this is not a rule and the screens can be mounted in a portrait position is a rectangular digital sign is needed.

The displays can be mounted to fix wall brackets, or articulated brackets that allow installers to access any screen without having to move the screens around them, reducing engineers time on site. The flexible video wall mounts to a steel pole system and the weight of the video wall causes it to hang down without effecting the image displayed.

Setting up multiple screens as a single image on a video wall.

One of the main challenges with a video wall is how the image is split on to the screens that make up the video wall, this is not a problem with a flexible video wall, but can be daunting for a fixed video wall installation.

A controller is needed, some have to be purchased separately to the screens, but some screens have the controlled built into the displays and you use the remote control to select what part of the screen each display will control, this provides a seamless display.

We manufacture a range of LCD enclosures as well as supplying a wide range of video wall solutions.
