Gas Pump Enclosure – helping to reduce gas station drive-offs

With the high demand for self service and digital signage comes a negative side, where customers come to your gas station, fill up and then drive off without paying. Drive-offs cost an estimated $1,000,000 per month; learn how you can reduce it almost overnight.

Digital signage for the petrol and gas station were seen as the holy grail to increase revenue for the onsite convenience stores, with the deployment of gas pump advertising has come a negative side of the signage solution, this is the number of drive offs that happen.

So what is the alternative to removing the self serve solution? The most cost effective is to integrate a high quality surveillance camera into the gas pump enclosure and when the offender comes to the pump and picks up the nozzle to fill up with gas, the camera takes a high definition image of them that can be used in court to prosecute them.

How does it work?
On site in the convenience store there is a server, this then is cables to the gas pump were a thin client or small factor PC is installed, this records all the data, for processing payments etc, it is linked with Category 5e data cables. From the small factor PC, the surveillance camera normally USB connection is installed into the gas pump enclosure and then cabled back to the small factor PC, now the system is ready for use.

Don’t panic!
Not every customer is trying to drive off, like everything it is the minority and when times are tight, such as in a depression or recession this type of crime always increases.
