LCD Enclosure Deployed In Detention Centres

With immigration centres in the UK being full to capacity, it is understandable why a range of LCD enclosures are being deployed in UK detention centres.

At the moment people are kept in UK immigration detention centres for a variety of offences, however with the different cultures and the different languages, frustration and confusion can quickly turn to anger; this is why the security companies that run these detention centres are investing in a range of LCD enclosure.

One of the main issues that some times occur when people are processed and taken into the detention centre for the first time, results from the unfamiliar environment. They become confused and do not know what to do or what processes they have to follow, now once they get to the immigration centre they are taken to a room that has a large format screen running a looped video in many different languages pointing out the processes permitted in the centre.

Now to protect the investment of these large flat screen televisions and codec’s, the security companies are purchasing a range of LCD enclosures, which are robust enough to withstand a steel chair being hurled at it as well as anyone trying to forcible removing the TV from the wall. This LCD enclosure prevents anyone accessing the TV as everything is secured.

These units must comply with anti ligature specifications, as there are too many companies claiming their product will do the job, however their solution is not designed for the job and they use a standard unit that covers outdoor digital signage protection.

The ultimate solution is an anti ligature that complies with all the relevant specifications, otherwise the solution purchased will not be fit for purpose, for example a viewing window in an outdoor digital signage enclosure will be thinner than a viewing window that is fitted to a detention centre enclosure, due to the higher risk of damage to the screen, by people throwing objects at the window from cups, shoes to chairs. This is only one aspect to consider and if a supply is not supplying a solid solution your investment will be wasted.

Companies such as Serco are buying in to LCD Enclosures Global expertise and reliability and purchasing large numbers of these enclosures for their UK sites, whilst their American site for LCD enclosures are dealing with US Federal agencies. Unlike some of our competitors who’s units do not comply with anti ligature specification for prisons as well as detention centres. These protective LCD housings are made from thinner material, the viewing windows are also thinner resulting a less robust solution.

Yet putting the hardware into an LCD enclosure will pay for themselves very quickly, as replacing a flat screen will certainly cost more than the initial price of the enclosure.
