Protecting TV Monitors in Manufacturing Facilities

Protecting TV monitors in manufacturing facilities

Industrial TV monitors can be used for many manufacturing applications; automation, server control, CCTV monitoring, production and data collection and some specialized units are suitable for use in more extreme environments like food processing plants, ships and for outdoor digital signage, however to achieve the optimum performance, protecting TV monitors in manufacturing facilities is a necessity – not a option.

TV monitors

Commercial grade industrial monitors and TV screens are of a high quality, boasting quality grade LCD or LED’s in the following form factors; rackmount, panel mount or open framed. This allows the industrial monitors to be perfectly suited for a wide variety of applications, whilst being able to offer a cost effective industrial monitor option. The size range is generally from 12 inches to 47 inch monitors being the most popular. Don’t forget to measure your screen on the diagonal – you’ll be surprised how many people measure from top to bottom and left to right; and then order the wrong size!

Monitor enclosures and mounting systems

Where to locate a monitor enclosure is a logistical issue to overcome, as feeding the power and connecting cables to the unit may cause all sorts of hazards, however it is safer out of the way; displayed from a wall mount or ceiling mount. There are various options on the market and a range of mounting brackets which attach to thin bezel screens, small PCs and other devices to the rear of the industrial TV monitor – including the enclosure.
Either a 75mm or 100mm pre-prepared VESA mounting pattern can be used, or the installer can drill custom holes in the panel. The bracket supports up to 11.3 kg. As an alternative, the monitor enclosure can be supplied with touch screens for interactive kiosk operation, which are located on the shop floor, either in a fixed position, i.e. a concrete base or on castors, allowing the kiosk to be maneuvered around the shop floor to where it is needed at different stages of production.

Getting the maximum for the budget – cost effective monitor applications

Cost effective TV monitors applications can help to reduce costs and shorten time with a revised system design approach. Using the software to deploy diagnostics, analytical statistics, functionability and monitoring systems within a variety of demanding environments or areas will increase and improve production and manufacturing quality. Whilst investing further into protection for the monitors adds an increase to the budget, in the long run it will protect your investment too. Down time is detrimental to business as data is lost, production is halted and staff are not working; often this is because of damage to a monitor or screen like the glass has been smashed, or cables have become dislodged – all of which is avoidable if the monitor is enclosed.

Updating factory information systems

The technology around today is so advanced that within five minutes of installing new factory information systems there is an updated version – where does it end? Keeping up with technology is one thing, but the investment in both hardware and software is another.
