Digital Signage development in 2013.

Digital Signage Updates for 2013.

2012 saw a huge increase of digital signage usage especially when used for the queen’s jubilee and the 2012 Olympics. This is not to mention the corporate use for electronic signs.

London 2012 Olympics digital signage.

During the build-up to the London Olympics in 2012 we saw many key players using digital signage to highlight their products under the same time educating visitors of the good work the organization does. This was especially true for the National Lottery as they used nine outdoor digital signage totems, these were used to educate visitors of the good work of the National Lottery. The nine totems showcased how they funded various charity projects. Without the National Lottery the Olympics would have not been such a success due to them funding local athletics and the construction of the Olympic Park.

Each digital signage totem had an internal media player that was connected to the Internet, for remote updates. The media players were connected to a 47 inch LG screen that was 700 nits. The internal hardware was cooled with a thermostatic cooling system and due to the unreliable weather in the UK, a thermostatic heater was also fitted to each of the totems.

The digital menu board has revolutionized the quick serve restaurant chains throughout the world, allowing them to brand each location ensuring that any information provided was relevant to the local area.

The file format used for the advertisements include JPEG, png, AVI, Power Point and even Flash ensuring that the adverts are interesting to the customers as well as marketing your products.

8K in digital signage solutions?

With the development of TV technology to the new breed of TV that is the 8K range, are we to see this technology being used for digital signage purposes? Panasonic’s 145 inch 8K screen is ideal for digital signage however the pricing could be the restriction as this new technology is expensive.
8K TV technology it is said to be the ultimate in TV experience, and the image is said to be as clear as being seen through a human eye. This new range of technology is called UHTV and this stands for Ultra High Television, it comes into standards that are 4K and 8K. Com pared to current high definition TV off 1080 P, the 4K technology is 2160 P with the 8K being 4320 P as you can see this is a huge improvement from the highest standard high-definition TVs are currently available on the market.
