Part Two of The Digital Signage Trends of 2013

Part 2 – digital signage trends.

In the first part of digital signage trends we learned the first trends for 2013 in the digital signage industry and are now we will discuss the the other possible trends.
There are two main driving forces in the digital signage industry, the first is stores that are converting to using digital signage and the second is companies looking to invest in to the IT architecture to support the digital signage applications.

Digital signage screen numbers.

In 2012 it was estimated that four million digital advertising screens have been deployed for both indoor and outdoor advertising solutions. This year, in 2013 the bar has been raised and I than estimated five million screens will be deployed by the end of 2013 making it a huge growth in 12 months from 4,000,000 to 5,000,000. One question you have to ask, will they be interactive screens? Or will it be mobile enabled? Gone are the days when we have to explain to customers what digital advertising is, now all we have to do is take them to any corner in any shopping center on points of the advertising signs. If you are the company that is working on a large project you can be the company that takes the industry over the five million screens.

Advertising spend for Digital Out-of-Home networks.

According to Advertising Association income grew by 11.8% in the first six months of compared to the same time the previous year. That is more than 5 times the growth rate for the media industry overall, we expect to see that more organizations and increase their advertising spend during 2013 the current estimates for spends this year is reported to be 9 to 12 per cent of 2012.

Interactive or touch screen digital signage.

2012 saw a massive jump forward in the use of interactive digital marketing, last year saw more touch screen solutions being deployed than in the past three years pull together. The main reason for this is that advertises realized the benefit of interacting with potential buyers and the buying experience. Make a note that this year more tablet, mobile and gesture digital signage will be seen.

Realities in digital signage- what next?

Augmented reality and virtual reality were main players in 2012 digital signage, we have to consider what realities we can integrate into digital signage to make it more engaging. One restaurant outlet that uses smell as part of its billboard advertising campaign, is this something more than we will see?

The Small to Medium Business digital signage.

This is where the majority of growth of dynamic advertising will come from the 2013, previously we have seen corporate users investing in digital signage now small to medium businesses are looking for a cost-effective way to drive the sales upwards. Small to medium sized businesses are prepared to pay a premium for a solution that works straight out of the box with minimal disruption to business. Let us see what 2013 has to bring when we look back at this later in the year.
