Self Serve Kiosks – Creatively Deploy Them.
We see self serve kiosks almost every day from the ATM to the gas pump enclosure were we pay at the pump, but their a few individuals who have taken self service and pushed it beyond its boundaries and deployed them using some innovative and creative methods. Discover more here.
We have all used some type of self service kiosk from the supermarket to the gas station, but this is a necessity right? Wrong! I discovered the following companies and organisations using some very creative methods for deploying self service kiosks.
Surfers Paradise.
The University of North Carolina –Wilmington capitalised upon their location (near to a popular surfing location) that they had a kiosk manufactured in the shape of a surfboard and had it installed so that it looked as though the surfboard was standing up. These were also deployed across the campus so students could enrol for future courses.
Each unit comprised of a touch screen display, a keyboard and a computer embedded into the surfboard shaped kiosk enclosure.
War Veterans.
The worlds famous 10th Armoured Division organisation wanted to capitalise on their huge success during the Second World War, as they were the first battalion to engage with German troops at what is know as “Battle of the Bulge”.
They commissioned the self serve kiosk to represent an armoured fighting force and the unit was deployed in the Patton Museum at Fort Knox, this is used to depict a DVD that documents their success as well as researching the background of the division.
The unit comprises of a 40” LCD display, a trackball pointing device and a high end PC to cope with the graphic demands.
