Servicing an LCD Digital Display

Maintaining the LCD Digital Display, for optimum efficiency, requires regular servicing. As the unit is likely to be running 24 hours a day, for seven days a week, it increases the chances of something going wrong – compare this statistic to that of a household television set being on for around 6 hours a day, in the average home. As technology has evolved, it also creates problems for the components which make up the screen, the more working parts to a screen, and the harder it works, the more problems are likely. A simple way of overcoming this is regular servicing – ‘Prevention is better than cure’. It is critical for the display to be serviced or repaired quickly and efficiently.

Keeping errors to a minimum is critical so that the display can produce its premium marketing effect to the passing public and making a return on the investment. Any problems of servicing can easily be overcome. An access panel should be planned during design to be located at a suitable point on the LCD monitor enclosure to ensure smooth servicing and easy access to the media player, for changing the advertisement content. Also slide-out technology, like the digital controllers, power supplies and interface boards all drastically reduce the down time and service/repair costs, enabling the unit to be back up and running within minutes.

The main contributors and factors in the display failure, like dust, moisture and heat can easily be eliminated by installing relevant sensors and this testing can even be done remotely, which is another important part of the benefits of outdoor digital signage.
