Selecting the best LCD enclosure for outdoor advertising

Picking the best LCD enclosure for external marketing.

It may not appear to be crucial however selecting the best LCD enclosure for your outdoor advertising campaign is essential. Buying the incorrect unit can cost you money.

Heating and cooling for LCD enclosure solutions.

LCD enclosure

There are many LCD enclosure used on the market, and this makes the buying decision a touch more difficult. As the manufacturers do not operate on a level field so you cannot compare apples with apples! Some manufacturers includes thermostatic heating and cooling as standard which is essential to protect the hardware throughout the year, other manufactures offer the cooling and heating systems as expensive extras once they have suckered you in with a low price for the housing alone.

Internal TV mounting bracket.

Some manufactures include an internal mounting bracket for the display, others charge extra for these. Some TV enclosures need a dedicated bracket from the manufacturer to enable the user to mount the enclosure to wall!

Security of the LCD enclosure.

Many of the manufacturers for trust the security and integrity of the housing the standard cam, compression and barrel locks, unfortunately these are opened very easily with basic tools such as a ruler or a penknife! We on the other hand fit the doors with high security locks these prevent unauthorized access.

The last thing you want to discover once you have purchased the hardware and an enclosure is that the hardware is vulnerable to theft due to the vulnerabilities within the LCD enclosure.

Viewing window to see the display within the LCD enclosure.

Now this is the crucial part of the solution, if the screen cannot be seen the advertising on it is wasted as well as the investment in the hardware. So purchasing an enclosure with the right viewing window is essential, some manufacturers prefer to fit Lexan or Plexiglas however the problem with these is that they reflect a lot of light and in an outdoor application is pointless. Some offer toughened glass as a very expensive extra as well as some offering anti-reflective glass at almost the price of on an extra enclosure!

Plexiglas/Lexan are easily damaged, for instance we won a project recently after an LCD manufacturer a supplied a college with an enclosure with a plexi-glass window, due to the outdoor location the viewing window became very dusty and when it was cleaned using a damp paper towel the viewing window was scratched due to the dust particles!

Toughened glass can withstand most physical attacks without any compromise, these offer the best protection to any outdoor advertising enclosure when using toughened glass it is best to angle the housing down to approximately 15° angle this eliminates the costly anti-reflective coating costs and with most LCD enclosures being fitted above head height they have to be angled down anyway.
Anti-reflective toughened glass, is rather expensive however is not so expensive as some LCD enclosure manufacturers will make out, as when they price it is an optional extra the price for the viewing window is more than the actual enclosure!

DOOH Limited have over 24 years’ experience manufacturing protective housings and their LCD enclosure range of come complete with thermostatic cooling and heating, toughened glass viewing window, internal TV mount and a pair of high security locks as standard within the LCD enclosure range, that can be seen here.
