Cambridge digital signage – on buses and retail outlets.

Digital signage in Cambridge is ever where including on the park and ride service, targeting customers while they travel into the city with tempting offers.

Cambridge digital signage.

From small digital posters to floor standing LCD ad players, these are being used by local retailers to market products and services to prospects, even outdoor digital signage was used at the Strawberry fields festival earlier in June.

What makes these marketing solutions is they way anyone can create content and then show it on the LCD advertising players, using an XML document can even improve the experience by integrating a ticker into the adverts.

Cambridge Digital Signage – Park and Ride.

When you arrive and park up and make your way to the bus terminal, there is a large 50” digital signage that is floor standing and it displays the time the next available bus will arrive.

Then once you are on the bus to the center, you are entertained by the smaller 17” displays that have local businesses advertising themselves. These retailers range from local car garages through to leading restaurants as well as jewelers selling the current range of bracelet charms.

Not too far away in Ely, you will also find an Indian restaurant using digital signage as a digital menu board in their window, so that potential customers can see what is on the menu before they enter the restaurant.

Further up Market street is an investment company using a similar solution to the restaurant promoting their service with case studies from satisfied customers, proving Cambridge digital signage is spreading.

Businesses are investing in digital signage to promote their business to the new generation who are not frightened of technology, many of their target customers use an iPhone on a daily basis.

Digital signage can be as affordable or as expensive as you want, with the various solutions that are available.

Outdoor Digital signage comes under different names and terms to describe the same or similar solutions. Understanding them is the key and why they have these names.

From electronic billboards through to LCD motion graphics, each term has a need and demand, over the next few articles we will look at different terms and hope to dispel the myths, use the wrong term and your project could be dead in the water, with wasted time, energy and money getting it right is essential.

Electronic billboards – these range in size and we see massive screens at the side of high traffic areas, such as roads to the airport. There are around 450,000 billboards as of 1991 in the United States, with an estimated 15,000 added every year.

Billboard potential issues – concerns have been raised for people who are driving and the billboards catch their eye and an accident happens, so much so laws have been passed for the place of billboards and in four States of America they have been banned since 1968, they include Vermont, Alaska, Maine and Hawaii. However in the UK, billboards come under the control of the local planning department, anyone displaying adverts in this manner without the correct planning documents is liable for fines of up to £2,500 per location. All five major outdoor advertising companies in the UK have all been fined for breaching these planning regulations.

Human Billboards – we have all seen the teenage on the street corner holding a piece of 2” x 1” that is nailed to piece of cardboard with “computer fair this way” and an arrow pointing in one direction. Now there is a modern switch utilising digital signage and these will certainly get noticed.

Discover how taxi top digital signs work and how they could benefit your brand or product set.

Using technology to make a profit has never been easier, since the start of time, man has always been looking for a solution, using the latest technology to achieve a result is essential in this current time of an economic down turn. We will try to explain how taxi top digital signs work.

Well firstly you need is a weather proof taxi cab enclosure, this will house all the electronics including the two televisions, a wireless media player with all the necessary cables to control and feed the screens with content. These are then mounted to the roof of the cab on anti vibration mounts.

Once the content has been loaded onto the media player and the screens are wired, all you need now is power, the power leads exit the taxi cab topper and then enter the cab, the power is brought to the screens by each taxi cab having an onboard power inverter that fits into the cigarette lighter in the front of the taxi.

Now most of the time the cab is in traffic, it will be driving slowly, so here is an opportunity for the digital signage to work at it’s best, by grabbing the attention of pedestrians as they wait to cross the road. It works even better at airports whilst you are waiting in line for a taxi, you will for sure be watching the screens on the taxi roof.

Now here comes the clever part, when a taxi is called to a job they are contacted from dispatch who send them to the correct address, now you can be part of a wireless network that covers a city or you could even use 3G or GPS connectivity to update the content, by streaming fresh content to the media player using a wireless technology is one of the many ways in which content can be updated effortlessly.

In the future we will see many taxi cabs sporting a taxi cab digital signage enclosure on their roof, but remember where you heard it first.

LCD Enclosure Global are the world renowned manufacturer of digital signage enclosures that are used in fuel pump advertising, outdoor digital signage and now they have launched a taxi top digital signs for a complete turnkey solution.
