Multi touch interactive windows for the ultimate in digital, dynamic advertising for both indoor and outdoor digital signage.

Now digital signage is pushing the boundaries of technology with this revolutionary new solution for digital advertising.

This solution features a special film that adheres to a window and connects to either a computer or projector then the content is then displayed on to the window in such an amazing way – this will for sure get passers by to stop and take note, as well as try it!

This solution is relatively new and only a handful of companies offer it, so as you can expect with new technology, it comes at a price, buy if you want to be the first on the block with this type of advertising it will certainly increase your profile with consumers.

This has already been deployed in New York at several high end fashion designer stores. Not only is it restricted to the window this can also be used on floors to advertise in shopping malls or even a multi touch table, for say a design team, allowing them to work more closely and interact more efficiently.

What makes this unique, is that it is totally consumer interactive, a user can select images and with a flick of their fingers enlarge images, scroll through product information and even send a message to their mobile.

You know about designing your own Nike trainers, now imagine walking into a shopping mall and using the interactive window, designing your own trainers then sending the order with all the specifications of your design to your mobile phone, then going into the store to place the order. This could something to look for in the future as technology never stops.

This technology is simple to deploy, and is simply plug and play, using gesture recognition is something for the future, the only other hardware needed is a projector an computer depending upon your requirement and project.

This solution is available from LCD Enclosure Global, manufactures of outdoor digital signage protection. Their LCD enclosure range has been deployed in almost every country in the World from Australia, America, Canada and Europe.

Digital signage is being deployed in hotel lobby's learn what is available and how they could benefit your hotel.

On a recent visit to the Marriott hotel chain, we where met at the reception with a digital advertising screen that had a built in motion sensor.

This gave us some basic information for the hotel, such as what leisure facility opening hours are, what was on the menu in the main restaurant and in the bar and information about Internet access.

This bought time as the desk clerk was busy dealing with another customer who was checking in, and by the time the ads had looped completely we where being tended too.

This is the most basic use of digital signage, however a more sophisticated digital signage solution is deployed at the Hyatt chain of hotels, here they have an interactive check in and an express check out. Also in their car park they utilise outdoor digital signage to advertise their chain of hotels in various destinations throughout the world, this type of solution is common in hotels and this is how they achieve it.

Check in desk digital signage.

Here numerous large flat panel screens are deployed above the desk and are viewed by guests as they check in. The media is stored on a local networked media player just behind the wall, sort of a back office application; this is then connected to the large screens using Category 5e network cables, this enables the content to be uploaded from a local computer connected to the media player.

Express check in and check out.

This application uses a floor standing kiosk that is interactive so guests can input their data, i.e. reservation number. This is can either be on a secured wireless network that is also used by the handheld terminals used by staff to take card payments, or alternatively they can be wired to the main computer network or be a standalone solution with the media player built in.

Advantages of wireless interactive kiosks – is there are no unsightly cables running across the floor or from the ceiling, also the kiosks can be located any where in the foyer of the hotel lobby and can be moved to another location with very little disruption.

Disadvantages of wireless interactive kiosks – these can be expensive.

Advantages of hard wired interactive kiosks – deployment costs are lower than the wireless kind as the hardware is more expensive.

Disadvantages of hard wired interactive kiosks – due to the nature of the deployment, the location is really restricted to either the perimeter of a room of near a pillar to conceal the cables. Moving the kiosk to a new location is costly as engineers have to be called in to re-cable to the new location.

Advantages of an interactive digital kiosk – these are very cost effective, due to the media player being built in and can even run Flash content. Moving to another site is easy, just move the kiosk with no purchasing any wireless adapters or having to pay for engineers to come to site.

Conclusion.

If you are going to deploying digital signage in a hotel lobby, you need to consider how to connect it, bearing in mind if it is likely you be moved during any event, such as a wedding – the bride does not want to be upstaged by the digital signage hardware.

LCD Enclosure Global are a specialist manufacturer of outdoor flat screen enclosures, also called LCD enclosures, these are used by digital signage integrators and people who wish to make a feature of their pool or hot tub area.

Dynamic, digital signage is used even in houses of worship for various reasons and applications, now these units are featuring touch screens to assist in signing people up for regular giving.

Dynamic, digital signage is used even in houses of worship for various reasons and applications, now these units are featuring touch screens to assist in signing people up for regular giving.

Unlike the UK, America has seen a distinct rise in peoples believes especially when times are hard, as everyone is on the same playing field. However what makes the huge difference is that in the UK there is “gift aid”, this is when someone gives a regular amount of money to church every week and with being a tax payer, the Church can claim the tax back on the amount given increasing the donation by some 18%.

Now in the USA, the giving is something different, as worshippers are seeing touch screen digital signage now appearing in the Church isles, well not exactly. These interactive displays are showing the current Churches calendar and then there is a page where the congregation can use the interactive touch screen to enter their credit card details to sign up for a regular donation, even if you don’t attend Church. This is perfect for worshipers who work away from home knowing they can contribute to the upkeep of their church as well as their community.

These can be floor standing, touch screen displays normally 42” in size and in the portrait position, a PC or small form factor PC is placed in a secure compartment in the rear of the kiosk or enclosure and this is then connected to the internet and a merchant payment account that will accept the congregation’s donations.

Proving that if the House of God is investing in interactive, touch screen digital signage why are some businesses not investing in it?

Some times it is that businesses think that the investment is not worth the return, however digital signage is proving to be an exceptional way to brand a company, organisation or even a charity and it doesn’t have to break the bank.

Like everything in life, there are different priced products, so if the budget is not that big, you can either have a wall mounted digital poster or a floor standing LCD advertising display, but these are not interactive. To achieve an interactive solution you could use an LCD enclosure and fit it with an touch screen panel these panels can be infrared and send a beam throughout the panel in both vertical and horizontal lines, so when someone touches the display they break the beam and this causes the break to act as though you clicked a mouse on the screen and made a selection.

LCD Enclosure Global offer a range of indoor and outdoor digital signage solutions that include digital posters, free standing LCD advertising screens to outdoor LCD enclosures for complete protection of the signage hardware, specifically for areas of varied temperatures form -30 to 150 degrees Fahrenheit.

Outdoor digital signage is big business, however with using the latest technology it does tend to cost a lot of money. However there are ways to make digital signage work for you at a cost effective price.

Through window and through glass touch screen are a sector of the digital signage industry that is growing fast, but finding a solution that will not leave you feeling as though you have been mugged is difficult until now.

There is a special foil that can be used on shop or business windows and even on the front of LCD enclosures to make them an interactive LCD enclosure. Then all you need to do is attach the LCD or plasma display to the USB connector on the display to facilitate a through window touch experience.

Now a limitation is not the cost but how large you want the interactive solution, now there is the option to make a through glass interactive screen up to 100”, so what type of hardware do you need to create such a solution?

Hardware needed.
•	A large window
•	A projector or High Definition TV
•	Data Cables to connect the computer to projector or TV
•	Media player or computer

How to install it?
Firstly clean the inside window where the touch panel is going to be fitter, fit the touch panel making sure that any bubbles are expelled, now you set either the projector or the display to send the image to the back of the film from either the computer or media player and you are done.

The benefit of this solution is that it can either be permanent or temporary, so you can move it from location to location. Interactive advertising is proven to be 70% more effective than single sided advertising such as video ads.

LCD Enclosure Global are the only UK licensed user of this unique product, for their kiosks and LCD enclosures making them the ultimate in digital signage solutions.

LCD Enclosure Global – anything else is a compromise.

Digital signage, a comparatively new and emerging technology, is revolutionizing communications everywhere, for example, in airports, restaurants, banks and hotels, retail stores and more. In just about any location you visit or shop, digital signage is conveying dynamic, bespoke information to help enhance your experience. Not only does it advertise the products you just can’t do without – and at a bargain price, but also it communicates messages and information, again for example at a train station, medical centre or ATM.

To date you won’t find it every where, however that is rapidly changing and evolving, as more and more venues install dynamic flat screens, LCD’s, projection and interactive kiosk technology with jaw dropping content which is designed to serve you better and faster, with added entertainment value. Whilst standing in a queue, you are occupied by watching the visual images, yet unwittingly fed advertising information which plants the ‘seed’ in your mind – a very clever and cunning subliminal message. Digital Signage Expo, is currently the world’s largest trade show and conference serving this fast-paced and evolutionary industry.

From its conception, Digital Signage Expo’s role has been to bring end users and technology vendors together for invaluable face-to-face communication and proficient education. Integrators are heavily investing in robust and information-packed Web portals that support the ever-increasing need for digital signage and digital out-of-home network information. This new portal is controlled by end-user industry segment and offers news, case studies, research, recorded seminar viewing, video interviews and more.

These scaled down versions of touch screen kiosks are rather cost effective and have a much faster return on investment compared to kiosk deployment. Manufacturers have worked together to provide a solution that has lots of functionality without breaking the bank.

The manufacturers have taken touch screen technology, scaled it down and yes there is a loss of some functions when compared to it’s brother the interactive kiosk.

The key element of the unit is the touch screen membrane, these resistive touch membranes can be split from 2 to 9 equal segments and the LCD screen comes in 26, 32, 36 and 42 inch sizes. Now when the nodes detect human touch they then call the firmware to display the relevant content that is related to that segment, this then provides much more detailed information for the potential consumer.

With content preloaded onto a memory card (CF card), this is then placed in the media player and played, when you wish to update the content, all you do is use a USB flash drive to upload it to the memory card already installed, via the onboard USB port.

When first viewed, people looked at digital posters as though they were digital photo frames, however they are far from it, as most digital posters have commercial grade screens and can run for 45,000 hours, some have the facility to start up and shut down at pre determined times, ideal for when you wish the signs to be off when the store, office or reception area is closed. This “sleep” mode, the unit to lengthen its life span by being used only when needed.

Childs play.
Now one thing every deployment manager wants to know is, ”how easy is it to install and upload new content?” well the simple answer is this. If you can take a memory card from a digital camera and put the images on your computer you are qualified to put content onto the memory card.

Once you have the content on your computer in the relevant folders, such as demonstration videos, actual product images (JPEG) and audio, you can then drag and drop the content onto the memory card. Then when the card is inserted into the player, and segment 1 is pressed, the firmware pulls the content form that folder and plays it as in the order you requested it until everything has been displayed and you are returned back to the root menu.

This makes the segmented touch screen digital signage solution one of the most cost effective ways for businesses to cut their teeth on digital signage.

LCD Enclosure Global as well as manufacturing outdoor LED enclosures they also offer interactive touch screen kiosks and segmented touch screens, at a cost effective price.

There are benefits and drawbacks when using digital signage, the drawback is that using anything that uses cutting edge technology is always going to be more expensive than actually doing nothing. The benefits are that every business can now afford to invest and receive a good return on their investment.

We have all seen the large touch screen kiosks and even video walls that are touch screen, well now there is a solution that is the size of a 32” LCD display and like commercial grade televisions can be mounted in either portrait or landscape position.
They have an inbuilt media player and the content can be cued up from the on screen menu, the content once created is stored on a CF memory card, it can also be integrated with scrolling text, the text can be a small, medium or large font, giving the business total control of the application.

The benefit of segmented touch screen displays is that up to 9 products or services can be highlighted and when a consumer or customer interacts with the screen, they are taken to the relevant area, for example a segmented touch screen poster could be used in a car dealership.

Here at the dealership they may feature 9 models they sell, when a customer is interested in one particular model they interactive with the screen and are taken to the colour options, or safety or even fuel consumption data.

Alternatively, at a department store it could be used to promote 6 to 9 new products, again when a consumer interacts with the display, they are shown the advantages of using or buying the product, the amount of time saved using it and how cost effective it is to buy.

Both options are a good example of how a consumer could interactive with a touch screen digital poster, without the expense of purchasing an interactive kiosk.

LCD Enclosure Global as well as manufacturing outdoor LED enclosures they also offer interactive touch screen kiosks and segmented touch screens, at a cost effective price.

Mobile Phone CHarging Kiosks, used for Out of home digital advertising to a captive audience.

Remember when mobile phones were just used for making calls? Well this seems a thing of the past, as the mobile phone has developed they have added features such as MP3 players, the ability to pick emails up and even browse the Internet whilst on the move, but these all lead to one problem!

The problem being the high usage demand on the battery, just think back and try to remember the last time you went out and realised that you should have charged your mobile phone before leaving home. I for one can be accused of this, even though I have an in-car charger.

Previously before upgrading to a smart phone, you would watch the batteries bars decrease and you could almost set your clock by them, not any more.

Like the ATM radically revolutionized the way we accessed cash, there is a new kiosk out there and it is specifically for “fast charging of mobiles”. These have been deployed in the UK at motorway service stations, seems obvious and they are conveniently located near the car shops. All you do is plug your mobile in and there are different connectors for the different manufacturers and models of phones, put your money in the slot and lock the door, returning in 15 minutes form the coffee shop to a fully charged phone.

In America, plans are afoot to deploy similar kiosks in hotels and airports. Have you ever forgotten your charger? Had to go to the front desk and ask if they can help? I have and I have had the humiliation of having to search through a box of chargers in the hope to find one for my phone, bearing in mind the hotel was costing $423 per night. Now imagine if the hotel had the charging kiosks in the lobby and you saw them as you entered – this would save your embarrassment and I am sure you would give them future patronage for this as this would be unique – well not much longer!

Airports- how many times have you gotten to an airport only to be notified that your flight has been delayed? No matter if it is a business or personal trip you need to notify people and this is a time that your battery is essential, so airports are looking into these kiosks, for future customer satisfaction purposes.

These kiosks come in different formats, from pay to charge as described above or free to charge. These free to charge kiosks get their revenue from displaying digital signage from companies that are relevant to mobile phones, for example a cell phone network provider may be offering new contracts with upgraded phones and your contract is up in a few months, so this would be relevant to you.

Self service kiosks helping unclutter stores and making digital signage engaging to customers.

When a store is cluttered it tends to drive customers away, now digital signage can help communicate your message much clearer and engaging with the consumer who will in turn spend more when the have an enjoyable shopping experience.

When a customer enters a store and is met by a greeter, then as they go further into the store, they pass cashiers, trolleys and the amount of information displayed leads to information overload.

Have you ever been in a store and immediately on entering you are met with an employee asking you questions, this happened to me recently and after 10 minutes of the salesman following me around the store I left and I will NEVER return.

One of the most effective solutions is to use digital signage to avoid this, as a self serve kiosk will serve as a greeter (if the consumer requires assistance) and also as a cashier, whilst we are not recommending replacing staff with kiosks, no the employees can be redeployed in other areas to ensure shelves are stacked to maximum and to help with customer services.

There are three points for a succeeding and they are:
•	Deployment
•	Consistent messaging
•	Re-assess the system

Deployment.
When a digital signage system is being deployed in a store, the integration has to have the consumer in mind, if the signage is playing loud music this is likely to put customers off, so we have found that if you use a sensor that activates when a customer walks by and then welcomes them audibly, you can also give them the option to mute the unit if they do not want to hear it, this will reset itself after 75 seconds, ready for the next shopper. This sort of for thought helps the consumer to engage with the signage in a positive manner.

Consistent Messaging.
This must be used to provide an image that will instantly brand your company with your surroundings. A dynamic system that promotes the company as a brand is proven to increase sales and profitability, whilst also improving their reputation with customers.

Re-assess the system.
Once it is deployed, keep re-assessing the dynamic signage system to make sure that your company is getting the most out of it and customers and increasingly engaging with the system.

Following these simple steps will help de-clutter any store and improve profitability.

LCD Enclosure Global deploy self service kiosks as well as digital menu boards as affordable prices.Contact them on +44 844 3578687 LCD Enclosure Global – anything else is a compromise
